AIA Cambodia Betters the Lives of Cambodian Youth, Extends Support for the Largest Youth League

Phnom Penh, October 5 2020 – AIA Cambodia reinforced her commitment to help Cambodian Youth live heathier, longer, better lives by renewing the sponsorship for the AIA-ISF Youth League for a further 3 year. This announcement was made during the closing ceremony of the league season 2019-20 on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

AIA Cambodia has been sponsoring ISF’s youth league for three consecutive seasons and will now continue for three more, reaffirming the company’s brand promise of helping people live healthier, longer, better lives. Together, AIA Cambodia and ISF are aiming to use the power of football to introduce the universally positive attributes of staying active, working with others towards a common goal, and a sense of fair play to Cambodian Youth from the very young age.

Normally lasting 6 months, the league gathers young people from underprivileged communities to play football while developing life skills and having fun. This year, more than 1,500 boys and girls have taken part in the league and accompanying tournaments across 7 divisions and 4 different age brackets,18, 16, 14 and 10 years old, making it the biggest grassroots football programme in Cambodia.

The AIA-ISF Youth League 2020 celebrated its long-awaited closing ceremony on Sunday 4 October 2020, drawing the season to a close after it was halted since March due to COVID-19 pandemic. Starting at 10:30AM at the ISF Sports Ground in Phnom Penh’s Preah Theat Village, the players took to the pitch for the semi-final and final matches. With the winner decided, the closing ceremony began, the season is now officially concluded.

 Since its inception in 2006, ISF has been directly involved in numerous grassroots football programmes and currently works with more than 3000 disadvantaged youths across Cambodia. Fundamental to ISF’s youth league is the belief that sport has the potential to combat many of the social challenges facing young people in Cambodia today, such as discrimination, lack of education, unemployment, and preventable diseases.
